W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, P. I. Tchaikovsky, F. M. Dostoyevsky, the British Queen Elizabeth II, Pope John Paul II and others have professed to being enchanted by its beauty and sumptuousness. The first mention of   Prague   dates back to the 9th century (foundation of Prague Castle after 870).

Prague   is one of the most popular European destinations for city tourism and offers countless experiences. There are many historical buildings here, i.e. churches, cathedrals, palaces, burgher houses, bridges and theatres etc. Visitors can also look forward to the wealth of cultural and sporting life.   Prague   is a pulsing big city of European importance. Many important events take place in   Prague   such as music festivals (Prague Spring), displays, exhibitions, sporting competitions (the Prague Marathon), trade fairs and congresses. Prague has sufficient accommodation and congress capacity. There are many hotels and restaurants here in all categories. One of the most popular is Prague ZOO, which is the 7th best zoo in the world. The monument centre of   Prague   , including Průhonice Park, is protected by UNESCO.

Prague   has been projected into the work of Jan Neruda, Jaroslav Seifert, Franz Kafka and Egon Erwin Kisch.   Prague   represents a unique complex of monuments, dominated high above the city by Prague Castle. It is an example of all artistic styles and directions. The historical heart of the city spreads out on both banks of the Vltava and is made up of 6 parts, which were once independent towns, combined in the 18th century. These are: Staré Město, Josefov (the preserved part of the former Jewish Town – nowadays part of Staré Město), Nové Město, Malá Strana, Hradčany and Vyšehrad. The greatest number of monument buildings, museums and galleries are also concentrated here.

Wonderful views are for example offered from Smetanovo nábřeží - Novotného lávka, the towers of the City Hall in Staré Město, the bridge tower in Staré Město, the bridge tower in Malá Strana, the towers of the Cathedrals of St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert, the ascent to Prague Castle on Hradčanské náměstí, the Petřín lookout tower and Vyšehrad.
